what to expect
So you've decided to book me for your wedding! Hooray! I am most likely bouncing-off-the-walls excited to get the chance to spend time with you as you prepare for your wedding day, and I’m so excited I get to be a part of something so incredible.
First things first. I just need to know some basic information about you & your wedding! Don't worry...I will gather more specific information when the big day gets closer and it’s totally cool if you don’t have it all figured out right now. Chances are we’ve already sat down over a cup of coffee (and if we haven’t, let's do that soon! Shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org). Some of this may be repeat information, but it’s here for you to reference if you need it!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR FIRST MEETING
Hopefully we’ve already sat down to discuss all the things. Below you’ll find some things I’d like to highlight so you can reference it if you need it! Ultimately my role in this process really is to get to know you two love birds and for you to get to know me. The better I know you, the more your photos will reflect YOU and your love. The better you know me, the more comfortable you’ll be in front of the camera with me.
1. I ask that any communication about wedding details is done over email (or recapped over email) so that all of my information and correspondence with you is in one place. This just helps keep me organized and on top of things! (Of course, don't hesitate to call if you need something!!!)
2. My turnaround time for wedding photos is one month! I like to have photos back to our clients by their one month anniversary. Typical turnaround time for engagement photos is two weeks, but really just depends on how crazy my schedule is at the time.
3. I use a website called Smugmug (and sometimes Google Drive) to deliver photos to clients. You will get a link and password to your Smugmug page and from there, you can download your pictures. (For more information on where we like to have photos printed, check out our "resources" page in the Client Portal.) Once you have downloaded your pictures, you can use them for any personal purposes (social media, prints, etc.)
4. I may use photos from your engagement session or wedding in marketing material, on my websites, on my social media, etc. as long as it is for business purposes! Any vendors who want access to my photos from your wedding day must contact us directly.
Once you book, I ask for a 25% non-refundable deposit within 30 days of our first meeting. I am currently accepting cash or check. (I don't accept online payments via Cash App, Paypal, Venmo, etc. because I get charged a fee and therefore have to hike up my prices!) Contact me directly for information on where to send your payment if you haven’t already sent that in!
I can meet with you at any point throughout the wedding planning process to discuss wedding details, go on a venue tour, check out locations for pictures, or just hang out and be friends! Just let me know what you need and I will make it happen. One of my absolute favorite things about the past seven years I have spent investing in photography is the relationships I’ve built along the way. My clients have become my friends. I’ve gone on to take maternity, newborn, and family photos for them. I’ve gone on vacations with them. I’ve reconnected years later and grabbed coffee with them. Some of my closest friends were first wedding clients and complete strangers. Let’s make that happen captain because that’s why I do what I do.
What to expect on your wedding day
Once I arrive, I will immediately begin setting up and taking pictures. A lot of what I do is candid, so just enjoy your day and pretend I’m not there! During getting ready photos or downtime, I may step out to capture detail shots or scout out the venue. I will also take short breaks as needed and at appropriate times. But mostly, I will act as your own personal paparazzi for the day.
The great thing about attending and shooting so many weddings is that I am a wedding EXPERT. Need your dress bustled? No prob, I'll do it. Need to know who signs the marriage license? I can tell ya! Gotta pin the boutonnieres on the groomsmen? I’m your gal. If you need additional help, I am right there, ready and willing, and I probably know the answer to whatever wedding-related question you have.
During the ceremony, I will do whatever it takes to get the shot I need to get without being distracting to your guests. Some venues have photography restrictions, so be sure to check and see if there are rules I need to comply to.
At the reception, I will take dinner break while everyone else is eating and there isn't much going on. If you have a second shooter at your wedding, you might notice that we take turns shooting at the reception. This is mainly so that we aren't taking the same photos over and over again, which makes for a long editing process.
If we get to the end of my scheduled time and you're just not ready for me to leave, you can keep me around for however long you want! Simply send me a payment for the additional time after you get back from your honeymoon.
AFTER THE WEDDING DAY
You'll probably see some posts from your wedding on our Facebook and Instagram pages. I love connecting with my couples on social media, so make sure you are following me so I can tag you!
I may send you a sneak peek of your photographs and I will be sure to have your online album up and ready by one month following your wedding.
If you’re ecstatic about your work, please share with your fam and friends! If one of your family or friends books me for a wedding based on your referral, YOU get a free one hour session with me! #freestuffforthewin
